Kayla is newer to Innerdrive, just joining back in August, thanks to some healthy peer pressure from her friend Gabby. Like with trying anything new she was pretty nervous, but, similar to how it goes for most of us, once Kayla got that first class out of the way she loved it! Always having something new to try from day to day and week to week keeps her intrigued and never settling on a complete favorite thing. She does have a slight preference for kettlebells and dumbbells over barbells though (which could cause some disagreement, but I totally agree).
Kayla enjoys the nicer months of the year that let her spend more time moving about outside, but she’s also a kindergarten teacher so she’s kept on her toes even during the colder shut in months. Currently we’re in the middle of the second round of lockdown, meaning the schools are from a computer and workouts are done at home. There’s something tough about getting in a workout at home because the designated space and atmosphere isn’t there. Kayla has done a great job of being consistent with getting in some kind of the home WOD’s whether it’s just a DB to add some loading or entirely bodyweight. It’s a space for her in the day where she can let her mind focus on working out, and forget about all the other junk that’s going on.
