Brian was lovingly coerced into coming to Innerdrive for a class by his daughter Marissa last June before a trip to the Boundary Waters, thinking that being prepared for some physical activity would be smart. He admits that she wasn’t exactly wrong. Since then he has been quite consistent in the 5am class, and this last month he has made it every morning, Monday through Friday! Something he can’t remember doing since his hockey days.
Being consistent with his fitness, Brian has found that he simply feels much better and has even reaped the benefits with his sleep, getting through most nights undisrupted. Though this could have something to do with waking up at 4am. Brian is a golf fan when the weather allows, but this winter he picked up snowshoeing to have something to fill the other months.
Brian shares a lot of the sentiments most of us do of almost an excited dread before workouts, especially when it’s 5am is so early, where you’re glad to be starting the day off with a workout and will feel great after and during the day, but the actual exercise part is rough. Knowing that it’s just going to be an hour of his morning though, and seeing all the other people around him putting in the effort to focus on a healthier lifestyle makes beating the sun out of bed each morning that much easier.
